Transitioning Your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall
Happy Friday friends! As much as I hate to admit it, or really even think about it, Fall is well on it's way. Just this week we've seen temps fluctuate from mid 90s to high 70s with cloudy mornings and thunderstorms scattered throughout the day. I love summer through and through but there is something so charming about Fall and admittedly, one of my favorites things about the season is Fall fashion. I love chunky sweaters, booties, and scarves but do you have to have an entirely new wardrobe for the season??
No way!! (Plus let's be honest, who can afford that!?) Today we're talking about how to transition some of your favorite pieces from Summer to Fall. I'm featuring this fabulous polkadot midi skirt from KC's newest boutique, Kate BUT before we jump in, I also wanted to share a few projected trends for Fall that also help a girl wear her Summer wardrobe well into Fall.
Animal print has become an always classic, never last season kind of trend. Sure some of the prints change but the word on the street is that those leopard spots and snake skin prints we all love aren't going anywhere anytime soon! That's right girls, your favorite leo silk skirt just got it's year round visa!! Bright colors seem to also be having a moment well into the Fall which is very exciting for those of us who hate to let go of the colorful prints until next Spring. Green and lavender in particular are having a MAJOR moment in just about every shade imaginable.
Along with this are head to toe looks in the same color...it's funny, I used to be so fearful of being too "matchy-matchy" when putting together a look and this year, runways were overflowing with looks of all one color (something to play around with for sure!) Not too keen on a head to toe marigold look? Try pairing a cardigan and an undershirt or turtleneck in the same shade on top! My last favorite projected trend for fall is the bourgeois look.
If you've been here for a while or you follow me on instagram then you know my love for all things vintage AND feminine styles so naturally I am very excited to see full tweed midi skirts paired with perfectly taoilred blazers and gorgeous leather accessories this fall!! Fulfilling my dream of getting to dress like Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral at least for the season!
For summer style, I have been loving pairing a graphic tee with a midi skirt. Something about their opposition is so fun! This is a very neutral look but you could play around with prints, color, fabrics; there is no shortage of combinations here. I've paired the look with my favorite summer sandal for an easy breezy weekend outfit. Add a pop of color with bag or a bold lip color and you're ready for the day!
For a Fall look, I chose to layer some super simple, closet staple pieces. This gorgeous green color is always so charming in the fall and layered over your favorite boyfriend button-down shirt, you've got a preppy yet classic look. Paired with my favorite leather booties and maybe a great trench or blazer for cooler temps, you're ready for your favorite Fall adventures!
