Winters New Trend: Plaid Shirt Jacket

One of the winter trends I’ve been eyeing for a little while now is the masculine cut yet classically timeless plaid shirt jacket. I’d seen this style on a couple others and just fell in love. I often feel like many of the winter coats made for women often have a fitted and somewhat girlish structure to them and though I love a feminine style, it can sometimes clash with an everyday, jeans and a sweater look. Also, let’s be honest, fitted jackets and fluffy sweaters do not a pair make (it frustrates me too, don’t worry)…like that scene from A Christmas Story, most girls try to get their sweater sleeves into their winter coats only to discover they can no longer put their arms all the way down lol. I love the loose fitting yet still chic almost vintage look of these jackets, especially to throw on over your coziest and fluffiest sweaters…plus lets be honest, boys clothes (or in this case boy-esque) are always more comfortable.

I sought out to try the plaid coat trend for myself because to be honest, I didn’t think I could pull it off but I am completely in love and my latest find has quickly become one of my new favorites. I’ve seen this style paired with cuffed denim and snakeskin boots for an edgy and chic streetstyle look and as you can see, I added my own feminine touches with a fun headband and booties paired back to a chino pant and chunky knit sweater for something a little more sweet. I love the freedom this style allows and the laidback feel it gives to any outfit. I’ve linked a selection of similar styles for any of you wanting to try this trend for yourself!! Let me know what you think!
